In many Scriptures there are references to “islands”, and it will be observed that physical islands are not the topic of discussion, but are being used to convey meanings by example.

It is imperative that when the words “islands” are used that they are read in the true and proper context. There are many other words that also convey different meanings when taken in the correct context.

For instance: The word “fire” mostly indicates “eternal destruction”!

PLEASE NOTE: ALL POSTS WILL BE PRECEDED BY THE IMPORTANT WORDS BELOW!

NOT ONLY WILL THE TRULY “WICKED” PEOPLE BE ETERNALLY DESTROYED BUT ALSO ALL THAT ARE UNACCEPTABLE TO OUR CREATOR JEHOVAH GOD! THE ONUS IS ON EACH AND EVERY PERSON TO ENSURE THAT THEY AND THEIR MINOR CHILDREN ARE ALL ACCEPTABLE! MILLIONS OF “NICE” PEOPLE WERE ALSO ALL DESTROYED IN THE FLOOD OF NOAH’S DAY!

AND

2 CORINTHIANS 13:5 & 6

5 KEEP TESTING WHETHER YOU ARE IN THE FAITH, KEEP PROVING WHAT YOU YOURSELVES ARE. OR DO YOU NOT RECOGNISE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS IN UNION WITH YOU? UNLESS YOU ARE DISAPPROVED! 6 I TRULY HOPE THAT YOU WILL COME TO KNOW WE ARE NOT DISAPPROVED. (The onus is on each and every person to frequently ensure that they are endeavouring to do Jehovah God’s EXPLICIT will to the best of their ability!)

All remarks in Italics are also pertinent to the other subjects that have been or will be discussed , and also relevant to the Scripture that is being given now.

ISLANDS – THE SCRIPTURAL MEANING

 October 29th, 2010 | Author: Douglas | Edit

The full implication of physical islands as opposed to seas cannot be written in detail, as it firstly is not really necessary, and would be time consuming as well. It would be enough to say that the seas have the power to, in an instant, destroy an island, when one observes what it so easily does to large continents. Also the literal seas are enormous as compared to the actual islands, and it is common knowledge that to be classified as an island, the area must be fully surrounded by seas.

Noah and the seven that accompanied him on the Ark during the Flood, were one of these “islands” surrounded completely by the “seas”, meaning the wicked people before the occurrences of the Flood actually transpired.

In the verses below will be seen that the “islands” enjoy a lot of Jehovah God’s favour, so they must be referring to the people that also enjoy Jehovah God’s favour.

In Isaiah 57:20 that is shown just below the “wicked are likened to the sea”. So now we know which people are indicated by the term “sea” or “seas”.

Isaiah 57:20

“But the wicked are like the sea that is being tossed, when it is unable to calm down, the waters of which keep tossing up seaweed and mire.  (The “seas”, when indicating the wicked people, do not always have solid principles and beliefs that they can practically justify, and when confronted with accurate Bible knowledge, and they do not have a practical explanation, then they quickly say: “Who are we to question God’s ways?” Also, the Bible states that the “seas” will shout that there is peace when there is no peace. This is always accepted that the peace spoken about is physical peace, whereas the actual peace spoken about is “inner” peace, or “spiritual” peace. Even devout true Christians are afflicted by a degree of “inner peaceful turmoil”, but at least they know that Jehovah God has the total cure, and that assists their faith. The words “keep tossing up seaweed and mire” also indicate the corruption, suffering, pain, dishonesty and all other evil deeds that are well hidden but perpetrated by earthly rulers.)

Isaiah 41:1 below gives a definite distinction between the “islands” and the “national groups”. The “national groups” here referred to are all the nations now residing on the earth, who are not doing Jehovah God’s will. The “islands” are not however alone, as the physical islands in the physical sea are, because these “islands” form a “bond” with other “islands” all over the world. They constitute a “nation” to Jehovah God Himself, now and into eternity.

Why the terms “islands” and “seas” are used is because they are representative of the very small area that constitutes an island, as opposed to the area of earth that is covered by the many seas. So, by comparison the amount of true Christians as opposed to the people that are unacceptable to Jehovah God as well as the people that are downright evil is demonstrated. Also, the seas totally surround the islands just as the wicked people totally surround Jehovah God’s true children. The wicked are boundless, while the faithful are few. The Bible states this at Matthew 7: 13 & 14. 13. Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.

Throughout history, especially Biblical history, the “seas” or evil religious people tortured, terrorised and even murdered the “islands”. It is mainly for fleshly desires and financial gain and power that the “seas” do not want to do Jehovah God’s will, and the truth of the Bible shows how fickle and futile their pursuits are. Also, many are their evil methods that they deploy to achieve their goals. Mostly, and totally unaware of it, they hate and despise the truth, as they are blinded by their desires. They are, however, wilful sinners. As written above. The “seas” can in an instant destroy an “island”. This is true about the evil human race that can murder a true worshipper of Jehovah God easily, as was the case with Jesus, with the consent of the entire “nation”.

When reading through the Bible replace the words “Islands” with Jehovah God’s people, and the words “seas” with wicked people, and see if you find a comprehensive and meaningful explanation.

Let us have a look at a few Scriptures from the Bible about the meaning of “Islands”:

Isaiah 41:1

“Attend to me in silence, YOU islands; and let national groups themselves regain power. Let them approach. At that time let them speak. Let us come up close together for the judgment itself.

Isaiah 41:5

The islands saw and began to fear. The very extremities of the earth began trembling. They drew near and kept coming.

Isaiah 42:4

He will not grow dim nor be crushed until he sets justice in the earth itself; and for his law the islands themselves will keep waiting.  (Here is indicated that the “islands” or true Christians are waiting for Armageddon and Jehovah God’s rule over the entire earth, when paradise conditions will be restored.)

Isaiah 51:5

My righteousness is near. My salvation will certainly go forth, and my own arms will judge even the peoples. In me the islands themselves will hope, and for my arm they will wait.

Isaiah 57:20

“But the wicked are like the sea that is being tossed, when it is unable to calm down, the waters of which keep tossing up seaweed and mire.  (The “sea” indicating evil people do not always have solid principles and beliefs that they can practically justify, and when confronted with accurate Bible knowledge, and they do not have a practical explanation, then they quickly say: “Who are we to question God’s ways?” Also, the Bible states that the “seas” will shout that there is peace when there is no peace.

Isaiah 59:18

In accordance with the dealings he will reward correspondingly, rage to his adversaries, due treatment to his enemies. To the islands he will recompense due treatment.

Isaiah 60:9

For in me the islands themselves will keep hoping, the ships of Tar’ shish also as at the first, in order to bring your sons from far away, their silver and their gold being with them, to the name of Jehovah your God and to the Holy One of Israel, for he will have beautified you.

Ezekiel 26:15

“This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said to Tyre, ‘At the sound of your downfall, when the fatally wounded one groans, when there is a killing with slaughter in the midst of you, will not the islands rock?

Ezekiel 26:18

Now the islands will tremble in the day of your downfall. And the islands that are in the sea must be disturbed owing to your going out.”’
